Yesteryear Collection

Following a decision by County Magistrates in January 1840 the Northampton Constabulary was formed with the Chief Constable (Henry Goddard, an ex Bow Street Runner), 7 Superintendents and 21 Constables.
Notable achievements include, in 1899 being the very first Police Force in the world to use a motor car for apprehending a criminal; and having James Kellie-Mac Callum as the oldest and longest serving Chief Constable ever, retiring in 1931 aged 86 after 50 years in office.
To-days Northamptonshire Police has over 1,120 men and women officers and civilian staff and is in the forefront of modern policing techniques. This model is issued to commemorate the 150th Anniversary.
